Patrick joined the Omaha Community Foundation in 2005. He advises donors, oversees grant programs and directs the Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative at the OCF. Originally from Portland, OR, he spent 13 years consulting nationally and internationally in the areas of conflict resolution, strategy and organizational development. He directed the Omaha Hate Crimes Project, a partnership between community groups and law enforcement, originally funded by the U.S. Department of Justice. He taught conflict resolution at Creighton University’s Werner Institute for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution and Doane College, public administration and international studies at University of Nebraska at Omaha, and world religions at George Mason University. Patrick earned his Ph.D. at UNO’s School of Public Administration. His dissertation research, funded by a fellowship from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, focused on public, private and nonprofit collaboration and community culture. He earned an M.S. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and a B.A. in Religion from Swarthmore College where he studied ethics and comparative religions.
