Are you joining us on Monday 19th? If not it is not too late to sign up and register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tedxomaha-salons-march-2018-addicted-to-books-a-library-of-obsessions-tickets-43799123357
Reading can be a way to escape, to learn, to explore and to imagine. Creating the words that go on the page can be based in reality, fantasy or a mixture. As a reader and a writer to what extent is our perspective framed by our culture, our experiences, our norms and our circumstance…., and how does that narrow our focus on what we read and what we get from it. Just as fictional characters are not real, so our perspective is framed by what we read, which is also not a real representation of the world. Why are we more comfortable and accepting of the limitations of a children’s book, than the framework of our bias. From cultural blind spots to children’s’ conversation, join us as we explore reading and the passion of words.
Reminder of the location and parking: The TEDxOmaha Salon is 6.00 p.m. the third Monday of every month at Kaneko 1111 Jones St. Omaha NE 68102. The Salon will be hosted in SPACE 4, the room with Jun Kaneko’s work. Since the gallery is closed to the public on Monday, Kaneko would like everyone attending the TEDxOmaha Salons to enter from the WEST side of KANEKO through the Library entrance on 12th & Jones. This will put you right into the space as the room is accessible through the library. Parking: There are a few metered spots alongside the building on Jones. Recommendation is to park at the garage on 10th & Jackson.
