When a building is one of the last vestiges of Rail-Era America, how do you honor its spirit while also giving it a legacy? The Rail and Commerce Building was the heart of the Omaha mail system. The building’s architecture was dynamically integrated into the rail network allowing it to use tracks and streets as the arteries pumping life into the city, its citizens, and its businesses. Now the old building has been imbued with new life. It houses Commerce Village, a co-working community providing space and resources for new businesses to thrive.
Join us as we explore the history of the old building and its exciting future. Hosted by Alex Liekhus, we will tour the facility taking note of historic scars intentionally left in the body. Lastly we will peer through the looking glass at the future of enterprise and how office spaces are adapting to the new needs of the contemporary business.
